Rwanda’s Capital Market Joins IOSCO's Investor Week to Promote Financial Education and Investor Protection

Rwanda’s Capital Market Authority (CMA) is proud to announce its participation in the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) Investor Week, a global initiative aimed at advancing financial education and investor protection. This collaboration underscores Rwanda's commitment to fostering a robust and informed investor community within its capital market.

IOSCO Investor Week is a week-long event that brings together regulators, market participants, and stakeholders from around the world to promote financial literacy and highlight the importance of investor protection. Through a series of educational activities, IOSCO Investor Week seeks to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools needed to make informed investment decisions.

This year, the campaign in Rwanda runs from October 9 to October 13, 2023, and features diverse activities designed to empower investors and safeguard their interests.

Mr. Magnifique Migisha, CMA’s Coordinator for Investor Education and Awareness Programs expresses his enthusiasm for this initiative, stating, "We are excited to be a part of this year IOSCO's Investor Week. This campaign aligns perfectly with our vision to create a more informed and secure investment environment in Rwanda. By working together with IOSCO and our local stakeholders, we can build a brighter financial future for all Rwandans."

He added that “Throughout this campaign, CMA will reach out to all existing and potential investors while advancing financial education and investor protection to empower investors and safeguard their interests.”

During this year’s World Investor Week, CMA conducts a digital media campaign to engage the general public on available saving and investment opportunities through the local stock market.

This campaign provides an opportunity for Rwanda to collaborate with international counterparts and share best practices in investor education and protection, ultimately contributing to the development of global standards in this crucial area.

The Rwanda’s Capital Market Authority (CMA) is the regulatory body responsible for overseeing the development and regulation of the capital market in Rwanda. CMA's mission is to create a dynamic, transparent, and investor-friendly capital market that contributes to the economic growth and development of Rwanda.
